Hazel McCarthy is an emerging Cork artist. She has recently completed her first collection for exhibition, which has been very well received. Hazel’s formal training is as a town planner, despite having being accepted into Crawford Art College upon leaving school. She opted for the more traditional route of University under advices from her family, who always said they would support her if she wanted to go back to art a later stage. Life took over and she forged a career in town planning and started a family. Having returned to Cork from Dublin and having left the corporate world she is now following her dreams of becoming an artist almost 25 years after being accepted to Art College. She has a wonderful talent for using any materials at her disposal and many of her paintings are mixed media. She admits that she doesn’t have a specific style at present but is simply enjoying this phase in developing her skills and getting the opportunity to get feedback from those who have seen her work.
